Eula’s White Cake

1 cup sugar

1/2 cup butter

1/2 cup cream

1 1/2 cups flour

Whites of four eggs

one heaping teaspoonfull bakeing powder

Cream the butter, with the sugar, and cream

(she [Eula’s mother, Martha] used a little more than a half cup of cream)

Then sift the bakeing powder with the flour, add alternately with the beaten whites

Bake in a tolerable slow oven
