Miss Farmer’s Sponge Cake

4 eggs, beaten separately

1 level cup sugar

3 Tablespoons cold water

1 1/2 Tablespoons cornstarch

1 scant cup flour

1 1/4 teaspoons baking powder

1/4 teaspoon salt

1 teaspoon extract lemon

Beat yolks until thick, add sugar – beat 2 min.

Add water – sift cornstarch, flour, baking powder, salt – add to egg mixture.

Add beaten egg whites & extract.

Bake in greased pan 35 min 350°
