I am proud of how I let go of the piece and experimented with the suggested revisions. While not easy, it helped me think about the direction of my writing and what parts of the story were essential to the plot.
I enjoyed the workshopping that we got to do in smaller groups, I think it really helped me find where in my story was confusing and what needed more explanation, which cleaned up some points in the timeline of my story that needed clarification.
I had fun working with my small group (as well as the larger group) and it was interesting to hear about how people’s opinions differed on different choices within the writing (for example, Renee’s italicized portions). It sort of reminded me how subjective the reader’s experience of a piece is, which is always helpful when thinking about your own writing process.
Despite the short week, I was able to revise my essay. I learned about which type of feedback to include in my piece and which one did not work during the revision period. It is difficult to pick between those but the writer has to take themselves into consideration and pick what they think is best.
It was a quick week, but I enjoyed the small group workshop. I really benefited it from it, and I was able to revise my story to a place that I am proud of.
