Lily Harper ’25 President, Captain

Limit

Lily is a junior maths and astronomy double-major whose riding journey started at the age of 8. She has competed as a show jumper back home in London from a young age and has only been riding Hunt Seat since the Fall of 2021. She recently won our region’s sportsmanship award for this year!

Tessa Wilson-Brown26 Vice President

Pre-novice

Tessa is a sophomore from Champaign, IL. She is a biology major and is also pre-vet. She rode for the first time in seven years after joining SCEQ last fall and is very excited to be back around horses!

In her free time, Tessa enjoys reading books and watching horror movies. She also loves talking about her various pets, as she has two dogs and a small flock of chickens at home.

Rainbow Gu ’26 Treasurer

Limit

Rainbow is a sophomore double majoring in SDS and History. She started riding in middle school and has fallen in love with it since then. She joined Smith College in the Fall of 2022 and has been SCEQ’s treasurer since mid-2023. Rainbow is so excited to be riding alongside her fellow teammates!

Simran Baveja ’27 Captain, PR Rep

Intermediate Over Fences/ Limit Flat

Simran is a first-year psychology major from San Francisco, CA. She has been riding since the age of 8 and competed in the hunter/jumper circuit in California. Her favorite style of riding is the jumpers, which she does with her horse, Linus (pictured).

Outside of SCEQ, she enjoys reading, writing poetry, cooking, and live music.

Sonja Henze

Limit

Sonja is a junior German major but also on the pre-med track. Home for her is Minnesota. She went on her first pony ride before she could walk and her first sentence was “horsey I touched it.” She began taking hunter jumper lessons in middle school before meeting her heart horse, Bean (pictured), in high school. Senior year she and Bean tried Eventing and have never gone back.

Outside of having fun with SCEQ, Sonja enjoys hiking and rowing. She is also a student liaison for the German dept. and works for a rowing non-profit back home.

Adela Hoffman

Limit

Adela is a 26J (first-semester junior) History major! She has been riding since she was 9 and has loved it ever since. She prefers stadium jumping but also loves trail riding and IHSA! She joined us this year and the team’s energy has never been better!

Amalia Tomas

Novice

Amalia has been riding since she was 6 and loves to do everything that one could possibly do on horseback. She’s competed in jumpers, gymkhana, eventing, pairs dressage, and most recently hunters! Her favorite thing to do is trail ride through a snowstorm in her home state of New Hampshire. She loves all aspects of horse life and most recently worked as a vet tech at New England Equine Medical and Surgical Center.

Outside of her horsey interests, Amalia is an avid short and long-form fiction writer and a sucker for a good book (some of her favorite authors include Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Charles Dickens, Jhumpa Lahiri, and James Herriot). She’s loves a good hike in the white mountains, swimming in the summer, and nordic skiing in the winter.

Alex Blaszczyk

Introductory

Alex is a first-year from Freehold, NJ, planning to double major in environmental geoscience and biology! She is returning to riding after 2 years and is more excited than ever!

Outside of SCEQ, Alex is on the nordic ski team and SMIRC, the club running team. She is also in the geology club and the outing club and works at MacLeish Field Station (ask her about it). Her other hobbies include crocheting and spending as much time outdoors as possible.

Nina Ballance

Novice

Nina is a first-year prospective astronomy major from Durham, NC. She has been riding since first grade in various disciplines, though eventing is her favorite so far. Before IHSA, she had participated in several schooling shows, and she’s very excited to be competing more with SCEQ!

In her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, listening to Taylor Swift, and learning how to ski!

Sonali Konda

Pre-Novice

Sonali is a first-year and a prospective English major. She has loved horses for as long as she can remember and ridden since middle school but has not competed until IHSA. At home in Dallas, she rides and works summers at a small community and rescue barn, where she met Irish Mist (pictured) and gets to watch kids fall in love with horses the same way she did. In her free time, she enjoys reading, writing, and crocheting gifts for people.

Emily Wang

Introductory

Emily is from Shanghai, China. She has just started to ride in high school, and she is excited to continue riding in college. Outside of SCEQ, she loves to play the piano, swim and talk about her dog.

Hannah Wolman

Novice

Hannah is a first-year biochemistry major on the pre-med track from Chelmsford, Massachusetts. She started pony camp as a second grader and has been riding ever since! She currently events but also enjoys learning dressage. Pictured is Grayson, her treat-obsessed lease horse (his favorite right now is sour candy)!

Outside of horses, she plays oboe with the wind ensemble and enjoys baking, being outdoors and saying hello to every dog she sees on campus!
