Working with microfilm, the originals and the digitized version, has presented many surprises. Often the surprises have presented challenges in workflow, description, or quality control. Sometimes the surprises are small quirks of the microfilming process such as the example here. The person filming didn’t remove their hand in time and it is now preserved on the film and its digital surrogate.
