I was intrigued by the many plants in the Lyman Plant House with exposed roots that often came out of their pots. I loved how they bent and moved unexpectedly, almost grabbing you as you walked past them. My goal in this project was to recreate the whimsy of these roots and exaggerate them to be the most prominent part of the structure. The bunched plant in my sculpture juxtaposed with these free-flowing, reaching roots highlights the beautiful strangeness of the plants.
