About JAR

The Beginnings

JAR is the brainchild of the Wright lab in the Biology Department of Smith College.  Inspired by our struggles with experimenting on sea anemones at home, we decided to create a platform for ourselves and others to vent about our experiences with conducting research during the COVID-19 pandemic.  Since a lot of the research done in this unusual time might not be of the caliber a formal journal would expect, our other goal is to provide a semi-formal journal for researchers to publish their pandemic-era findings.  Unique to JAR are tales of cats knocking over beakers and the mysteries of what, exactly, is growing inside that months-old cup of coffee.
