  • Bright and bold ceramics were customary for 14th century Iran as Sultanabad ware was created through a process called mina’i 1
    • Mina’i: a process where a ceramics colors are preserved through a high temperature firing process
  • Geometric patterns are often attributed to Islamic art, however these styles can be traced to “late antiquity” ages such as the Greeks, Romans, and Sasanians2
    • The style popularized by 14th century Iranian artisans expanded upon the existing patterns
