Welcome! I am an associate professor of government at Smith College. I received my Ph.D. from the University of California, Berkeley, and was a postdoctoral fellow at the Ash Center for Democratic Governance and Innovation at Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government. I conduct research on local governance in China and Taiwan and on subnational diplomacy between the US, China, and Taiwan. My work has been published in PS: Political Science and Politics, Publius: The Journal of Federalism, Governance, Pacific Review, China Quarterly, and the Journal of Political Science Education. I am a fellow in the Public Intellectuals Program of the National Committee on US-China Relations, a member of the US-Taiwan Next Generation Working Group, and an Associate in Research at the Fairbank Center for Chinese Studies at Harvard.
