Northern college students participate in voter registration drive for black Southerners

Students from Smith College and other northern universities (Boston University, Springfield College, etc.) assisted in a voter registration drive in Raleigh, North Carolina. They were tasked with canvassing specific areas and registering black voters, which mainly occurred during the evening, and attended orientation events and classes at local black colleges during the day. Returning Smith students described their warm reception by black community members.
