Smith and Amherst students arrange meeting over resumed bombing in Vietnam
Close to 175 Smith and Amherst students met publicly with professors Gordon Levin (Amherst), Philip Green (Smith), and Joseph Dellagrote (UMass) to protest and discuss the significance of resumed U.S. bombing in Vietnam. They planned to march to the Northampton Town Hall but were prevented from doing so by a mayor’s ruling, holding the meeting in front of the Unitarian Church instead. 20 Smith and Amherst students also planned to go to Washington for a meeting of the Committee for Non-Violent Action on the morning of February 5th.
