The Black Theater Workshop is sponsored by the theater department
(Date is for when it was reported in the Sophian)
Playwright William Branch spent a week at Smith, lecturing in theatre classes and participating in the Black Theatre Workshop, an initiative formed the previous semester by a Smith graduate student. The workshop, which attracted 30-40 participants, aimed to “interest black students in the activities of theatre” and specifically to pay tribute to and explore the experience of black womanhood on stage.
