College Hall sit-in to show support for divestment from South Africa

The Ethical Investment Committee and Divestment Committee organized a four-hour sit-in at College Hall the day before the Smith College trustees met to talk about divestment. About 300 students participated, as did several faculty members. Those gathered sang and chanted in protest of Smith’s shares in South Africa. However, they complied with College rules of assembly and at one point President Dunn even invited protesters into her office to answer questions for forty-five minutes.

The full Sophian article on the sit-in can be found here.
