College Hall occupation ends, proposal put forth

After the protesters’ six-part proposal had been revised to the satisfaction of everyone involved, the occupation of College Hall ended. The biggest change made to the proposal was taking out “total divestment” from the list. Some other small changes were made (changing the moratorium on classes from two days to one, making the teach-in “required” rather than “mandatory,” etc.) Although some protesters felt like they were compromising too much, there was a lot of support for the revised proposal when a vote was held. Even with the end of the occupation, other forms of protest continued to pressure the trustees into meeting on South Africa again.
