Students vote on demands

At an emergency senate meeting after the all-college meeting, it was decided that students would vote on the cultural organizations’ demands as a whole rather than point by point. 88 percent of the student body voted, with a majority of 68 percent of students voting for the demands to be passed. However, before the vote, debate flared up over whether the demands should be voted on separately and whether there should be a required course on racism at a college with no core curriculum. After having the students vote on the demands, the heads of the cultural organizations planned to submit the demands that same week to the Committee on Academic Policy.
