Students’ Grassroots Organizing Group is formed
Approximately 150 students gathered to discuss specific incidents of racial discrimination that had happened in Cutter House, as well as more general campus climate issues and other discriminatory problems in Gillett House and Gardiner House. Their gathering marked the first meeting of the Students’ Grassroots Organizing Group. Roz Smith, AC, founder of the group, explained to the Sophian that “We wanted to create a student-only space for students to talk about issues, create dialogue, and mobilize around issues occurring on campus. Our main agenda is to provoke a response from the administration to do something. We are holding them accountable.”
