Smith students take part in New York Millions March

“141 Smithies headed to New York City on Saturday, Dec. 13, to take part in the Millions March NYC. The protest, which drew thousands to Washington Square Park, was one of numerous demonstrations staged across the country that day against police violence directed at African Americans. Smith faculty and alumnae also participated in the march.”

Smithies who could not go were led by students of color in a die-in at the college gates, followed by a moment of silence and a space for students of color to reflect on their experiences. There was then a viewing of the march in Gardiner house from 1-3pm.
