Bonnie Lea Farm, March 26 – Two individuals from the Smith College hunt seat team competed in the IHSA Zone I Region 3 Championship hosted at Bonnie Lea Farm.
The show for us started with the Introductory Equitation class where senior Tara Gadoury had a lovely round on the amazing Dexter.
Our only other rider in the ring that day was for the Novice Equitation class. In a large pool of great riders, senior Alexandra Stephens fought a hard battle on a former Smith pony, Ginger.
At the end of the day, when the results were announced Smith ended the year in 7th place! But we still had some tricks up our sleeves! When Region III president Tara Lowary announced the Sportsmanship award, our very own sophomore Lily Harper was the winner! In true form, Lily was feeding horses and didn’t hear her name announced! The whole team started shouting for her, and she shouted back “What do you want from me?” Finally Lily entered the ring to collect her IHSA tote bag, boot cleaning kit, crop, and a gift card to Dover Saddlery!
