The Mapping the Holy Land project is drawing from Crusader map illustrations to construct a composite map of 12th- and 13th-century Jerusalem. We are identifying and cataloguing religious and civic buildings, annotations, and natural features across 11 maps. Our goal is to layer the aforementioned individual features on a single base map, allowing us to visualize the varied depictions of the holy city during the Crusader period.
