Students working on this project are reconstructing the movements of John of Gaunt (1340–1399), Duke of Lancaster, through his surviving registers. They are building a dataset of the dates and locations where documents were issued, using close reading and historical research to standardize and verify the records. The project will use digital mapping to visualize patterns of mobility across fourteenth-century Europe.
