Interview with President Mendenhall on student’s unrest

In an interview with the editor of the Sophian, President Mendenhall expressed the desire for students to exhaust all available paths (going through student government, bringing it up to administration members, etc.) before turning to extreme strategies such as protests to change aspects of the institution. He viewed protests as more justified in the national context of civil rights, as opposed to college operations. However, he did encourage students to question all aspects of their college experience.
