Students fast in protest of Vietnam War

Many houses held a one-day fast, inspired by the ministers’ march in Washington against the Vietnam War the previous week, attended by Smith chaplain Reverend Richard Unsworth. It was originally planned to last for the three days of the Vietnam ceasefire, but the notification was not made early enough. The statement of the fast read: “We undertake this fast as an expression of individual concern about our government’s position in Viet Nam. It is our hope that this public witness will call others to join with us in a meaningful dialogue about this war.
