Vietnam conference at Cornell, conflict among delegates

Six delegates from Smith attended the National Student Conference on Viet Nam at Cornell University, representing the Sophian and the Smith student government. Majority and minority resolution alike denounced U.S. policy in Vietnam. However, a group of delegates in favor of the existing U.S. policy asserted that the conference was non-representative of national student opinion and walked out of the final assembly, with a student from Fordham University explaining “Because they (the anti-war faction) are more vocal, it looks like there are more of them than really exist.” Other students disagreed.
