International Club and BSA co-sponsor panel

On a Wednesday night in the Smith College Gamut, a panel sponsored by the IRO and the newly formed BSA (officially chartered the following month) entitled “Liberation Movement: Struggle of the Oppressed” was held. The panel consisted of Smith government professor Ramon Ruiz, and three students each there representing the experiences of various peoples. The students were UMass grad student Obi Bwerinofa from Southern Rhodesia, fellow UMass grad student Hatem Husseini for the Middle East, and Calvin Ward of Amherst College representing the US. Professor Ruiz spoke about Latin America. Each panelist in turn took the podium and expressed their views on the movements being built in their respective regions, and the following day the Sophian published a recap of the night.
