Hispanic Studies professor publishes Sophian letter questioning dismissal

After receiving a non-committal response from the Smith Board of Trustees, Hispanic Studies professor Carmen Suarez-Galban published a letter in the Sophian questioning the legitimacy of her dismissal from the department. She referenced a student petition and desire to keep her in the department, which had been responded to with the token offering of a student liaison program where the liaisons were chosen by the individual instructor. Professor Suarez-Galban defended her competency as an instructor and called for Hispanic Studies to value student opinion.
