Racist notes in Cutter House discussed

Cutter House’s house council discovered a semester late that house residents had received six racist and homophobic hate notes in the fall. House council found out what had been happening when one of the council members herself received a hate note. That student took the note to the head resident and area coordinator, who then informed the associate dean of student affairs, Carol Weinberg. The head resident had known about the other hate notes since some of the other note recipients had come to her about them. However, Weinberg and the house council had not known about the notes. Weinberg called an emergency meeting with house residents and Ann Burger, dean of the college, to address what had happened. An investigation by the Judicial Board did not turn up any conclusive evidence but did suggest that much of the issue stemmed from a lack of communication among house residents.
