Restructured affirmative action officer search committee meets with student leaders

After the uproar surrounding the lack of student representation on the committee from the previous academic year, President Dunn reformed the search committee for affirmative action officer to include three students with full voting rights. Apart from these students, different Smith cultural organizations–Asian Students’ Association (ASA), Black Students’ Alliance (BSA), International Students’ Organization (ISO), Korean Students of Smith (KASS), Nosotras, Smith African Students’ Association (SASA), and South Asian Students’ Association (EKTA)– were also slated to participate in the search process. The committee met with student leaders to talk about evaluation criteria for the officer candidates, and expressed confidence that a candidate would be appointed as affirmative action officer before the start of the second semester.
