Trustees unanimously vote for Smith Design against racism

The Smith College Board of Trustees unanimously endorsed The Smith Design for Affirmative Action and Institutional Diversity: A Call to Action. However, they pushed back the Design’s plan for achieving a faculty composed of twenty percent people of color from ten years to fifteen years. They also held off on voting on the proposed civil rights policy in order to give E. Shelton Burden, the new affirmative action officer, a chance to review it when she started at Smith in January.

The full Sophian article on the trustee decision on the Design can be found here (1, 4).
