President Dunn sends memo about vandalism incident

Following the vandalism of Professor Seymour Itzkoff’s office and house, President Dunn issued a memo to the college community reporting on what had happened. She said that “offensive epithets” had been spray-painted inside and outside of Itzkoff’s office. Referencing the first semester’s controversies around Itzkoff’s book The Decline of Intelligence in America: A Strategy for National Renewal, President Dunn declared, “I am very discouraged when someone strikes such a blow to the civil discourse that is at the heart of academic institutions. This undermines freedom for all of us.” She also urged anyone at the college who had information on the incidents to come forward, though she noted that Itzkoff thought the perpetrator was someone from outside the college.
