Lynching drawing in Wilson House

A black first-year in Wilson House discovered that someone had drawn a stick figure being hung from a tree with a noose on her dry-erase board. The student met with the Black Students’ Association (BSA) and together they decided to make an announcement in the house dining room at dinner. The South African Students’ Association (SASA) also showed up in support. The student and two other house members interviewed by the Sophian believed that the perpetrator was a member of the house community. In addition to making the dining hall announcement, the first-year also filed a formal complaint with the Bias Committee.

The full Sophian article on the drawing can be found here (1, 2).

The full Sophian article on the subsequent march, vigil, and rally can be found here (1, 2).
