President Christ responds in an email
President Carol Christ sent an email to campus regarding the blackface incident. She explained what had happened and expressed deep concern about the online response: she called some of the postings on Facebook and the Daily Jolt “incendiary, racist, deeply offensive, and entirely contrary to the values of Smith College.” To conclude her email, President Christ outlined the meetings and forums to address racism on campus that would be taking place in the following weeks.
