Parsons resident receives a second hate note

The same Parsons House first-year who received the first hate note received a second one two weeks later. This note, which had a similarly discriminatory message, sparked further outcry from students. The combination of the two hate notes and the Anne Spurzem letter led to increased student pressure on the administration to address issues of discrimination on campus and hold an all-campus discussion forum.

The student-written open letter to the Smith community with a description of this and successive events can be viewed here.

From the Weaving Voices Archives oral histories, to be submitted to the Smith College Archives in Spring 2019.
