Representative Adam Clayton Powell gives talk titled “Where Do We Go From Little Rock”
On Tuesday November 5th, Representative Adam Clayton Powell of New York lectured at Smith. His lecture called on the US government to take “intelligent action” towards integration, as the world was watching. He said every racial incident existed on the global stage, and would be scrutinized out of its importance to “a world fraternity of colored people which transcends all national boundaries.” He also spoke of Western Civilizations lessening control in international affairs, the rise of Communism, and his upcoming plans for Congress.
