Students rally, new committee meets
As the ad-hoc committee of eight trustees, five students, and three faculty members met to discuss divestment, approximately 20 students rallied on Seelye lawn to protest apartheid and show support for divestment. Although the protest turnout was smaller than expected and the meeting itself did not result in any concrete plan of action, one of the committee students noted that the protesters were “loud enough to make an impression” and plans were set for further committee meetings.
