Committee on Community Policy (CCP) centers last forums on grievance procedures
At two final forums that were centered around Smith’s grievance procedures (or lack thereof) , Richard Briggs, co-chair of the Committee on Community Policy (CCP), talked about the difficulties of formulating a policy without having any “statement which spells out exactly what the college is committed to.” Other concerns that were brought up included deciding on what exactly would constitute a grievance under the new policy and dealing with complaints against tenured faculty members. The group also discussed a proposal brought up in a preliminary draft of the CCP report, namely that an ombudsperson be hired who could serve as a point of contact for various grievances.
