Quigley Fellow
Alice Tan is from Shenzhen, China and Falmouth, MA, and is currently majoring in Classics and English. Alice says: “I first learned of Meridians by reading Professor Ambreen Hai’s essay ‘Departure from Karachi Airport.’ Her beautiful piece brought tears to my eyes. I grew passionate over what she describes as the two-front battle a feminist of color often faces: to critique the patriarchal, sexist values within one’s home country yet simultaneously defend it from attacks of racism and Western colonialism.”
