Lakshmi N. Menon, leader in India’s women’s rights movement, comes to Smith

On Friday, March 17th, Lakshmi N. Menon gave a talk in Sage Hall, focusing on “Non-Western Studies.” Menon was an authority on international relations, and had a long standing relationship with the UN. She served on the 1949 UN Commission on the Status of Women in Beirut, and served in multiple capacities representing India on UN committees focused on “non-self-governing territories.” Her arrival was announced in the Sophian.
