Divisions among Democrats on civil rights

The Sophian reprinted an article on the Young Democrat Clubs of America (YDCA) convention that outlined the issues discussed and the resolutions passed. A central discussion of the convention was civil rights, with the Southern delegations strongly differing with the more liberal delegations, led by those from California and Arizona. The YDCA backed away from condemning the extremist right and the Southern delegations registered opposition “in part” to support of the federal civil rights bill.
