Proposal: summer tutorial project in Mississippi for black students

At a faculty meeting, Reverend Richard Unsworth proposed an eight-week summer tutorial program for black students in Mississippi who were transferring to white schools to support them academically. In addition to experienced secondary school teachers and university professors, he recommended that 30-40 students from Smith, Amherst, and a handful of black colleges in the South teach. He also offered other suggestions for Smith students looking to become active around civil rights topics.
