Student interviews musician Josh White, discuss racial equality
In his interview with a Smith student, Josh White talked about his experiences with discrimination in his South Carolina hometown and his efforts to fight back through song. He emphasized the importance of education, and when the student asked, “If education is so important to the Negro, why is it that generation after generation seemingly lack ambition,” White replied that “It’s a lack of possibility not ambition”, although he affirmed that things were changing for the better.
