My experience in the field of Italian-language teaching ranges from grammar, conversation and writing courses (all levels), to training and supervision of Italian instructors (Smith ’11/’12, CEA ’14/’15). Based on the Faculty Course Evaluation Statistics for Spring 2016-17 prepared by the Office of the Provost & Dean of the Faculty and shared with the whole Smith academic community in July 2017, my language classes fall into the top 20.8% of classes by instructors who created an effective learning environment for their students.
Below are the courses I have taught most frequently in order of language level. Students’ evaluations (“Evals”) are provided for the most-recently taught courses.
– Elementary Italian: Syllabus 101 / Evals. Spring ’16
Sample Blended-Learning Activity (second semester): Affari d’autunno
– Elementary Italian Conversation: Syllabus 135 / Evals. Spring ’17
– Intermediate Italian: Syllabus 220 / Lesson Plans / Evals. Fall ’16
– Intermediate Italian Conversation: Syllabus 235 / Evals. Fall ’15
Sample Final Projects (Digital Storytelling): 1 – 2 – 3
The conversation course below resulted from a collaboration with the Smith College Botanic Garden and was funded by a Mellon grant from the Five College Inc. (see Blended Learning page for more info).
