I would highly recommend this book to other Japanese 110-111 students because it uses grammar that they would know, and it also uses kanji that they should have already learned. The drawings are very simple, neat, and nice to look at. I definitely like the use of simple phrases like いただきます as well.に

I recommend this book for any first year students. The conversation uses a lot of the vocabulary that we have learned in class and the plot is very relatable so it is a lot of sentences and topics that you are likely to say and hear. It is very useful to read for studying or practicing.
I would definitely recommend this book to other people wanting to find on-level readings! The drawings in this book were really beautiful, and I loved the small details that the author included like the captions on the Polaroid pictures and how Hoshiko’s name was written in the stars! I hope to see more books like this!

I highly recommend this book to Japanese first semester students. It introduces both the sakura culture and Japanese geography. There are a lot of interesting details like お花見 and that Japan is divided into 沖縄，九州，四国，本州，and 北海道. Vocabularies and kanjis in this book are very easy, and the book is a good practice for beginners.
これ本はとてもおもしろいです。たくさん漢字をしりませんでしたが、むずかしくなかったです。日本の結婚式がわかりました。たのしいです。
This book is very interesting. There were many kanji that I didn’t know, but they were not hard to understand. I got to know about the Japanese wedding ceremony. It is very interesting.
I definitely recommend this book to others. The book itself and the drawings are all very interesting. If you wanna know about some Japanese traditions, this book is easy to understand for beginners. The book also talks about some cultural norms. It was very exciting that I can understand most parts of the book even though I just began Japnese for not more than 2 months.

This book talks about two stories of John. The first one is very funny and real. The elder people generally don’t like clothes with holes. The second one is also funny. John was late for school because he went to karaoke and drink alcohol last night, which is what hangover really looks like. The book is not difficult for JPN110 students. Though there are some new words, you can understand them in context. I strongly recommend it because the content is really good.
This book talks about the cats that live in the Japanese city of Tashirojima. The illustrations are well done and the content is both interesting and easy to understand. むずかじゃないです！
I would recommend to level 0 readers and first year Japanese students because the vocabulary is fairly simple and the sentence structure is simple as well which makes it accessible to new Japanese-language learners.
This is a very fun book. I just wonder why guys always mess thing up on dates. John san did, and Takeshi san did as well. Anyways, this is not a though book if you are good at knowing lots of kanji. The pictures in the book helps a lot in understanding the context as well. I recommend this to First-year Japanese students who want to challenge themselves in understanding kanji.
This book lists statistics about Japanese men and women such as their respective average height or average age of marriage. The book also compares the statistics to those of other countries, such as America and Mexico. It is not a short story and is informational instead.
I would recommend this book because I think that it is rather interesting. I doubt that I would have come across the information in the book otherwise. Additionally, the artwork is pleasing. The measurements can be a bit confusing but otherwise it is mostly clear and readable with the skills of a first-year Japanese student.
この本はおもしろくてかわいいです。男の子はやさしいです。This book is very cute and shows a boy’s various activities during his vacation. The drawings are colorful and the writing is at a good beginner level of someone just learning Japanese.
I recommend this book if you want to practice with more vocab and grammars structures outside of what Genki teaches so it can be more real world applicable. This book is definitely helpful to those taking first year Japanese and is at a beginner level. The story is very easy to follow. Even if some words were not present in the Genki textbook, this book helps the reader inference them.
