桜(さくら)

これはおもしろい本でした。私(わたし)は子(こ)どもの時(とき)Washington DCで桜(さくら)を毎(まい)ねん見(み)ましたから。日本(にほん)のちいきがたくさんあります。ちがうのちいきで桜がちがうの時間(じかん)にさきます。

I would recommend this book to students who are finishing their first semester of Japanese. Reading this book is a good way to practice many of the kanji we learned. It was also interesting to learn about the regions of Japan and how that affects the cherry blossom trees. The illustrations were very pretty, so the book was fun to read.

日本に行きましょう

このほんたのしいですよ!私は大好だいすきです。Getting to travel along with the author of the book is actually really interesting and the questions the author poses along the way keep you engaged.

I would highly recommend this book to other Japanese 110-111 students because it uses grammar that they would know, and it also uses kanji that they should have already learned. The drawings are very simple, neat, and nice to look at. I definitely like the use of simple phrases like いただきます as well.に

みつはさんは、さよさんに、でんわをかけます。

この本はかわいいです。私のとまだちわかきました!この本はむずかしくなかったです。ピンクのぺじがすきです。

I recommend this book for any first year students. The conversation uses a lot of the vocabulary that we have learned in class and the plot is very relatable so it is a lot of sentences and topics that you are likely to say and hear. It is very useful to read for studying or practicing.

この本はおもしろいてしゃしんはきれいです。It makes me looking forward to watching Sakura next year. And it’s interesting to know that Sakura blossoms at different times because of the difference in location.

I recommend this book for First Year Japanese students. It’s easy to read and brings beautiful expectations for spring in cold winter.

黒子

この本はとても悲しくで、面白い物語です。たくさん新しい単語。でも、図があぃませ。日本語のいちねん生は解ります。

I would recommend this book to all Japanese 110 students. The drawing is at such a high aesthetic level. The plot is heartbreaking but straightforward. After reading the book, the readers will begin to think about their relationships with their pets. There are some new words, but the pictures next to them help to explain the meanings a lot.

寿司ーすしーSUSHI

この本はとてもおもしろいとおもう。よもむずかしですがたのしです。えがすきです。

This book is very fun because it’s all information about sushi. Different types of sushi, what fish they are made from, and where sushi originated from. It had many unfamiliar words and phrases. I did not notice that this book is actually a level 1 book so that makes sense. Although it is very informational I would recommend that level 0 students not read this as they would have to look up several words and phrases in order to understand.

りょうさんのクリスマス

本はおもしろかった。サンタさんはどろぼういました。りょうさんはどろぼうをつかまえました。クリスマスはよかったです。

I would recommend this book because it is not a difficult read but it is very interesting. If you like books about the holiday season and happy endings, you will enjoy this book! The illustrations are also really pretty and make the book more fun to read.

緑(みどり)の豚(ぶた)

この本(ほん)はすごくかわいかったです。びじつはとてもきれいでした。本(ほん)はもやすかったです。むずかしくなかったです。私(わたし)はこの本(ほん)をJPN110のがくせいにすすめます。

This book was extremely cute. The art was very pretty. The book was also easy to understand. It was not difficult at all.

I recommend this book to JPN 110 students.

ココと星子

先週せんしゅうわたしはこのほんをよみました。このほんはとてもおもしろくて、すごくきれいです。ココここさんと星子ほしこさんはいいキャラクターきゃらくたあですね。「ココここ星子ほしこ」が大好だいすきですよ。

I would definitely recommend this book to other people wanting to find on-level readings! The drawings in this book were really beautiful, and I loved the small details that the author included like the captions on the Polaroid pictures and how Hoshiko’s name was written in the stars! I hope to see more books like this!

大豆(だいず)

この本をすきました。大豆(だいず)のしやしんがとてもかわいいですから。日本で大豆の食べものがたくさんあります。だから、この本はそのたべものをおえます。冬(ふゆ)と夏(なつ)のかんじもおしえます。

I would recommend this book to any first semester Japanese students. Beans are everywhere in Japanese cuisine, and this book helps familiarize the reader with the various uses. There are general recipes for several ingredients like tofu, and the book even has cute pictures of koji fungi! The kanji used in the book would also be useful to know for anyone looking to buy ingredients at a store without English labels.
