バス

この本は鈴木正男さんの一日について書きました。鈴木さんはバスの運転手です。バスが大好きです。おばあさんも大好きです。でも、おばあさんはもう死にました。鈴木さんは夢におばあさんに合いました。おばあさんはとても優しいでした。
この本の中で、新しいたんごがあります。でも、教科書に新しいたんごを読みました。

The book talks about a car accident that Suzuki bumped in. In the coma, he dreamt of his grandma. There are very moving conversations between them. At the end, he woke up in the hospital seeing his parents and realized that he was just in his dream, his grandma was dead.

There are new vocabs in the book, but all these vacabs are those we have read before, such as 明るい, which means bright. So I really recommend this book because it helps me review lots of words that I do not use frequentl

ジョンさんの日本へ

この本はじょんさんの日本でストーリーを書きました。ひこうきの中で、雪さんにあいました。おなじ本を読んでいたから、言った、友だちになりました。後て、いっしょにかぶきをみに行きました。本の中で、たくさんばんごと月と日があります。おもしりいです。

I think the book is a good review for how to say dates, time, and months. Because Yuki and Jyon made a mistake on the date of their Kabuki ticket, there are lots of conversation about date countings and seat number counting. Also, the second part of the book is mainly about Yuki and Jyon going to watch Kabuki show, so I really recommend this book to those who are interested in Kabuki because there are lots of pictures of Kabuki in the book.

ジョンさんバスの中で

ジョンさんジョンさんバスの中で

この本は ジョンさんの一日を書きました。 ジョンさんのストーリーはとても面白いです。ジョンさんは 友だちとパーテイーでたくさんお酒お飲んだから、電車で寝ました。遅く学校に行きました。

本おなかで、たくさん新しいたんごがあります(ねむい、あるき)。でも、しゃしんがあるから、わかりました。それから、たくさんたんごをべんきょうしました。

I highly recommend this book, partly because it just reflects first year Japanese students’ daily life, getting up early for the 8am class but is so sleepy. Also, the part that the grandma on the train gives Jyon money to buy pants is also super funny.

ハチの話

この本は有名です。ハチはとてもかわいくて、いい犬です。The book is really touching although it is a sad story in the end. But it described the loyalty of the dog and it is also a true story.

I do recommend this book to my classmates. There are many words in the book that we’ve already learned so it’s a good time to review the words. Also, the images in the book are cute!

結婚式(けっこんしき)

とてもおもしろい本です!しらないことばがありましたが、しゃしんはてつだいました。ぶんぽはわかりやすかったです。この本は日本の結婚式について話しました。新しいことをおしえました。私はこの本を好きでした。

This was really interesting book about Japanese marriage ceremonies.  I learned a lot from this book, like the sort of clothes the bride and groom wear at a wedding ceremony and some of the things they do.  There were quite a few new words, but the pictures were very helpful in determining what the unknown words mean through context.  The grammar was also all forms that 1st year Japanese students have already learned, so that part made it easier to read too.  I highly recommend  this book to 1st year students!

ジョンさんバスの中で

この本は面白くて、難しくないと思います。ジョさんは毎日バスに乗ります。たくさん人に会います。おばあさんはとても面白いです。私のおばあさんもいろいろなところを切るのが大嫌いだと言いました。

This book talks about two stories of John. The first one is very funny and real. The elder people generally don’t like clothes with holes. The second one is also funny. John was late for school because he went to karaoke and drink alcohol last night, which is what hangover really looks like. The book is not difficult for JPN110 students. Though there are some new words, you can understand them in context. I strongly recommend it because the content is really good.

ジョンさん日本へ

この本はおもしろくて、むずかしくないと思います。ぶんぽとたんごとかんじはぜんぶかんたんです。絵もきれいです。

This book is about ジョンさん going to Japan and his date with ゆきささん. I think the story itself isn’t that interesting, but the grammar, kanji, and vocabulary usage are really useful for Japanese 110 students, for it’s basically only using what we have learnt in class. So I highly recommend this book to Japanese 110 students. It’s easy to read and a good review for final exams.

寿司

この本はとても面白いです。ストーリーがありませんが、インフォがたくさんありますから。私は寿司を作って食べるのが大好きです。だから、この本を読んで寿司の歴史と作り方をたくさん勉強しました。いろいろな魚の名前もたくさんあります。挿絵は可愛いです。いろいろな寿司の挿絵と写真があります。

I recommend this book. It talks a lot about the sushi culture. I learned all kinds of sushi and the correct way to eat and make sushi. I learned what 回転寿司 is. 新しい漢字があります。ちょっと難しですが、わかりました。挿絵は本当に助けましたから。

ジョンさん日本へ

この本はとてもきれいです。アートスタイルがだいすきです。でもジョンさんは、ゆきさんがすきですか。ゆきさんも、ジョンさんが好きですか。次のチャプターはどこですか。John meets Yuki while taking an airplane to Tokyo because they had the same manga. When they said goodbye to each other, they realized they accidentally switched their mangas between themselves. Three months later, they went to see a Kabuki dance together, but later realize they accidentally got the wrong date.

This book is, in my opinion, easier to read than 笠地蔵 because most of the kanjis are words we already learned, and many of the kanjis that people might not recognize are words we already learned, just not in kanji but in hiragana. I will recommend this book to the first-year Japanese students.

ジョンさん日本へ

This is a very fun book. I just wonder why guys always mess thing up on dates. John san did, and Takeshi san did as well. Anyways, this is not a though book if you are good at knowing lots of kanji. The pictures in the book helps a lot in understanding the context as well. I recommend this to First-year Japanese students who want to challenge themselves in understanding kanji.
