Dear Readers,
Another academic year has come to a close at Campus School, inspiring us to reflect on all that we have learned– as students, teachers, and staff– within and beyond our classroom walls. In this fourth issue of The Lab School: A Journal of Insight & Inquiry from Campus School of Smith College, we share with you the ways in which teachers and students have worked to bring “the outside in” and “the inside out” by engaging with and integrating community resources into curricula.
From third grade river poetry to creative dramatics in Spanish class; community engagement in chorus, to the voices of Campus School alumni, this issue reveals the connections that make Campus School great. As Graeham Dodd, Director of Curriculum & Innovation at Campus School, so eloquently shares in her personal narrative published in this issue, learning is fueled by “People who saw something in us, people who taught us, people who changed us.”
We invite you to celebrate those people as you read through this issue, and we wish you a wonderful summer vacation.
Sincerely,
Brittany Collins ’08
