笑い話

この本はすごくおもしろいです。あたらしいたんごとぶんぽうがあります、でも、ストーリーはむずかしくないです。たのしかったです。絵がきれいです。This book contains 4 jokes in a Japanese cultural context.

I recommend this book to Japanese 110 students, because the book is really fun to read and the grammar is really common and useful. There are some new words, but the pictures help me understand. Sometimes they didn’t use the polite forms of verbs because of the context. I found this useful, giving us an idea of the non-polite usage of Japanese language. Also the  jokes are ironic and reflective of some social phenomena, so I strongly recommend this book.

ハチの話

この本はあまり難しくないです。とても面白いですが悲しです。ハチは頭が良くてとても可愛い犬です。ハチは有名ですよ。私はハチが大好きです。ハチの映画も見ました。

I recommend this book to Japanese 110 students. It is easy to understand. It uses the sentence structures we learn in JPN 110 repetitively throughout the book, which is really helpful in terms of practising the grammar we learned. The vocabulary is mostly within our range, with few unfamiliar words that don’t impede the understanding of the whole story.

だれが　たけしさん　を　なぐりましたか。

この 本　は　たのしくて おもしろい  です 。難しくないです。とても つまらくないです。よんで ください。でも語い　は　ちょっと　むずかしい　です。

The book was an amazing and funny read. I would recommend  this book to those taking JPN 110 , or have very little exposure in the language. I loved reading this book. The story was colorful. I wished there was a sequel to this book. The vocabulary might be slightly higher than what we have learnt, but the grammar is very easy to understand. Please do read this book. It will definitely make you laugh.

木村家の毎日　「ただいま」

木村家のみんなはなかいいです。とてもおもしろてやさしい本です。にほん語１年生にもむずかしくないから、どうぞ見てください。

I would very much recommend this book to first year Japanese students, because it is an easy read and has a heartwarming, well-structured story about a family celebrating a very special day (you have to read the book to find out what that occasion is!) Also, the characters of the book are illustrated in an adorable style, which adds to the pleasure of reading this piece.

寿司・すし・SUSHI

この本は面白ですが、ちょっと難しくて　たくさん新しい単語があります。

The book introduces how Japanese people make and eat sushi, the history of sushi, as well as different kinds of sushi. It does not include a plot in the storytelling, but it’s still very interesting to read.

I would recommend this to Level 1 Japanese students who are more comfortable with Kanji, since there are a lot of new Kanji and vocabulary in the book. It is a good practice as well as one way to learn more about Japanese culture. But even if you are not that familiar with those words, you can still get the basic idea from the pictures!

I also recommend people to read it after lunch or dinner because the pictures make me hungry and extremely eager for sushi…

木村家の毎日お正月

この本はとても面白いです。お正月はとても楽しいです。漫画はかわくて、きれいです。お正月の歴史とカストムを知っています 。After reading it, you will get a sense of the custom and activities of the お正月 in Japan, which is a good way to learn more about the Japanese culture.

I will recommend this book to the Japanese first year students. Because the words and sentences are not that difficult, and you can finish reading it in five minutes with cute manga! Also, getting a deeper insight into the Japanese culture is really interesting.

大豆

この本はやさしいです。漫画はとても可愛いです。大豆の作り方がたくさんあります。例えば、みそと醤油と納豆がありますね。大豆の歴史がわかって、とても楽しです。

I will definitely recommend this book to Japanese beginners. The pictures in the book are cute and the sentences are easy to understand with the manga. After reading it, not only would you learn some useful expressions, but also know more about the history and culture about beans in Japan.

舌切り雀

この本はとてもおもしろいです。日本の古い話です。おじいさんはやさしくて、雀が好きです。でも、おばあさんは雀が嫌いです。それから、雀の舌をきます。ちょと怖いです。

This is a interesting story. Grandfather is very nice but grandmother is very scary. She cut the tongue of the bird just because the bird eats her washing powder. The story is easy to read. I found many Tango and Kanji that we just learned. It really help me to review those Tango.

きむらけの毎日　「おしょう月」

このほんは、とてもおもしろくて、たのしいです。I found this book really fun to read. It describes a traditional Japanese New Year’s celebration. There are many illustrations to help the reader understand what’s going on since some of the vocabulary is new.  The story is very cute and sweet.

I would recommend this book for level 1 Japanese students. It wasn’t too difficult and a really nice introduction to Japanese New Year. The sentences are short and simple and there are several Kanji that are taught by the second semester of Japanese 110 so it’s great practice.

タクシー

Taxi

この本はちょっとかなしいですが、とても面白いです。女の子はタクシーに乗りました。家におりました。でも、お金がありません、それから、タクシーは増しましたが、女の子はいません。女の子はしにましたから。とてもかなしいですね。

I thought this book was confusing at first but then I figured out that the girl was dead. I had a feeling that the taxi driver wouldn’t get paid but I had no idea that it would be because the girl was dead. I also found this book interesting to read because of the way ghosts and spirits are depicted differently in Japanese culture in comparison to American culture. I personally wouldn’t recommend this book to a friend just because it was pretty challenging to understand at first
