木村家の毎日シリーズ

木村家の毎日系列は「行ってきます」、「いただきます」、「一郎、学校で」、「ただいま」、「お正月」全部5冊です。面白いし、簡単だし、日本人のリビングも習います。例えば、みそ汁は右に置いて、ごはんは左に置きます。元旦の夜、おせち料理を食べます。そして、正月のとき、子供たちは、おじいさんとおばあさんからお年玉をもらいます。たくさんお金があります。嬉しそうです。日本の正月と中国の同じところがいっぱいです、それも面白いです。

木村家の毎日series have 5 books, they are all very interesting and easy to read, and you can learn a lot about Japanese people’s life. For example, Japanese people will put miso soup on the right side, and put rice on the left. On New Year’s Eve, they will have おせち料理. On the New Year’s Day, children will receive お年玉, similar to red bag with money inside. What’s also interesting to me is that Japanese New Year’s traditions have a lot in common with Chinese ones, reading the book reminds me of the Spring Festival.

風と太陽　〜イソップ物語より〜

この本はとても面白かったです。子どもの時、この話を聞いたことがあったと思います。でも、文はちょっと短すぎて、文法はとてもかんだんでした。かんじもかんだんでした。

I picked this book up thinking it was Level 2, but it turned out to be Level 0, so the grammar and kanji all turned out to be fairly simple and easy to understand. It is a relatively fun and easy read, and the story seems to be well known as a traditional tale. I would probably recommend this to anyone starting out in the process of learning Japanese.

耳をすませば

これは「耳をすませば」という映画を本にした絵本です。映画を見たことがある人たちの為読みやすいと思います。各ページには映画から美しい景色や絵があるので、読んだことがない人たちも簡単に読めるかもしれません。
主人公月島雫は読書が大好きな中学３年生です。話のはじめに、借りた本の中にある図書館カードにまた天沢聖司という名前が書いてあるのが気づきます。どんな人かなぁとよく思う月島さんはある日電車で猫が出会って、不思議だなと思いながら、猫を追いかけます。それで、話が始まります。
とても綺麗な話で、青春の美しさを思い出させます。

This is picture book version of the Studio Ghibli movie, “Whisper of the Heart.” It’s quite easy to read, especially if you’ve seen the movie before. It’s meant for a younger audience so not that much kanji is used, which actually makes it a bit difficult to read sometimes. The story focuses on middle schooler named Tsukishima Shizuka, who loves to read fantasy books. She notices that a boy named Amasawa Seiji has almost always checked out the books she reads before her and he wonders what kind of person he is. One day, she chases a cat she meets on the train and that is where the story begins. The story is quite nice and reminds me of the beauty of youth.

浦島太郎

 

この本は面白いかったと思います。文はちょっとみじかくて、かんたんで、ちょっと難しくなかったです。漢字と新しい単語があるので、楽しかったです。でも、悲しかったと思ういます。

For all that the sentences were simple and short, the story conveyed lots of emotion. The vocabulary was almost all familiar, and there wasn’t much kanji.The ending was kind of sad, but still enjoyable.  I would certainly recommend others give it a try.

ジョンさんの夏休み

 

この本は楽しかったと思います。話しが面白かったと思います。私は早く読んで、わらいました。でも、文はとてもみじかくて、かんたんで、私は難しい文がほしいでした。

I would recommend this book. The kanji were very simple, and all of them had furigana, so there shouldn’t be any problems on that front. The story itself was light and funny. Give it a whirl!

にわにわに？

 

この本はとても面白くて、楽しかったです。私は早く読んで、わらいましたので、この本を読んでよかったです。でも、文はとてもみじかくて、ふりがなの漢字がたくさんありませんから、むずかしくないです。

I enjoyed this book! The story way fun and lighthearted and funny, but the sentences were very short and simple. It wasn’t very difficult, but I almost didn’t notice how fast and easy it was since the problem facing our police officer was so comical. Give it a try!

とても悲しくて美しい本ですね！話にはかんどうして、面白くて、速く読みました。文がとても短くて、漢字があまりありません。本の絵はきれいです。とても簡単な本ですが、いい話だと思ういます。

This was a very simple, pretty, engaging story. The story and the sentences are easy to understand, while not becoming boring. There isn’t too much in the way of kanji, but there is plenty of dialogue, which makes practicing ‘to itteimasu’ and it’s variations easy. Give it a try!

ジョンさんの夏休み

面白い本と思います。ジョンさんは夏休みにホームステイをする話です。ホームステイをする時、たくさん友だちを作ったり、お祭りに行ったりして楽しくなります。ジョンさんの夏休みはとても面白かったと思います。
In this book, John does a homestay in Sendai, Japan, during his summer vacation. He becomes closer with his host family, and goes to festivals with new friends. I would recommend this book to anyone in beginner level/first year Japanese, and to anyone looking to study abroad afterwards. There are some unfamiliar words, but it is an easy and light read. It highlights the experiences of a study abroad student while also touching on aspects of Japanese culture.

世界のどこかで 日本のどこかで 〜本当にあった話〜

この本を読んでみて、思ったより面白かったです。実際ににあった話だからこそ読んでよかったと思います。特に子猫についての話に感動して少し泣きました。

文法はあまり難しくないですが、難しい単語がちょっと多いので、特に日本語4年生におすすめします。

I found this book a lot more engaging than I had expected, although it’s a bit of a strange combination of stories. I think knowing that the stories are true makes them more enjoyable. Fair warning: at the end there is a story about a cat that made my cry a little bit.

I think the vocabulary might be too challenging for first or second year Japanese students, unless they can read a lot of kanji. Overall I would recommend it.

どうして猿の尾は短い？どしてクラゲは骨がない？

 

このストーリーは ちょとかなしでした。このストーリーはことはクラゲと猿が何かなくしました。でも、いいストーリーを読みました。おもしろいでした。

I would recommend this story. Most of the kanji was easy to read. It was a bit sad because they lost something they can’t get back. It was interesting to read why both the jellyfish and the monkey lost that something and how it happened.
