ことばのはじまり物語

 

この本が大好きです。長いそうだから、読む前に、難しいと思いましたが、実はとても面白くて、読みやすいです。たくさんかわいい絵があるから、ちょっと読みにくい時に、ほとんどのストーリーが分かると思います。この本は色々な物の名前を説明します。食べ物だけでなくて、生き物や体の名前も説明します。話はとても面白いです。例えば、「かぼちゃ」は日本までカンボジアから来ましたから、そして名前はかぼちゃになりました。日本語が上手になるために、言葉の元を分かる必要があると思います。だから、この本をよんでください！

I definitely recommend this book. It is filled with extremely interesting explanations of names of things in Japanese, and I think it is helpful to understand the origins of words in any language that you speak. I have always been interested in word origin and etymology and didn’t know anything about Japanese etymology, so it answers a lot of questions. The book is quite long, but it’s something you can come back to again and again and learn new things. Please read this book!

桃太郎

桃太郎という話はアメリカではたくさん日本語を勉強する学生の知っている日本の昔話だと思います。桃太郎さんは犬とさると鳥と一緒にアドベンチャーに行ったり、おばけを戦いました。この本は子供のためにか書かれたので、読みやすいです。でも、とても面白くて楽しかった話だと思うから、私は大好きです。日本の昔話を好きな人にももたろうをすすめりたいです

Momotaro is a cute story about a boy who goes on an adventure with a dog, monkey and bird.  The book is pretty easy to understand as it is written for children and has a lot of pictures.  It is great for anyone interested in Japanese old stories.

この本は家で寿司のつき方を紹介するの本です。私は寿司が大好きなので、様々な寿司を食べたが、この本を読んだ時、たくさんの寿司の種類を見て本当にびっくりしました。いろいろなすしの写真はとても美味しそう。江戸前寿司のつくのは最も難しい気がします。この本を持っていれば、寿司をつきやすくなるに違いない。この寿司が好きな人向けの料理本は、皆さんにすすめたい！

This book is a sushi recipe book and it introduces so many different types of sushi and the ways to make them. Making sushi could be creative. Although sushi seems to be easy to make, but it could take years or decades to master it. There are some new and specific sushi vocabularies in the book, but with the pictures the book is easy to understand.

木村家の毎日「お正月」

面白ですね！私は日本の文化を習いました！日本の文化はよく知らないが、簡単な文章と綺麗な絵は意味を分かります。 ユーモアがあります。読んでください！

This book is interesting! I learned some few things about Japanese culture. I am unfamiliar with Japanese New Year customs, but the simple sentences and beautiful drawings helped me understand what I was reading/learning. It also has a little bit of humor. I would recommend this book!

この本あはとても面白かったです。本のテームは着物です。着物の歴史、写真、指令があります。たくさん綺麗な写真がありますよ！This book is about kimonos — how they’ve evolved throughout Japanese history, the occasions on which they’re worn, and how to put them on. It also has lots of pretty pictures of kimonos!

I’d recommend this book for any first year Japanese student who wants to know more about Japanese culture. I’d also recommend it for the pretty pictures! Most of the language is easy to understand, and you get to learn about different eras of Japanese history too!

ももたろう

 

ももたろうという昔話のタイトルをよく聞きましたが、どうゆう話か分かりませんでした。だから、私はこの本を読みたかったです。ももたろうはとても有名な話なので、この本をすすめます。日本語を勉強している学生はみんな読んだ方がいいと思います。読むと昔話の事をもっとわかるようになれるからです。

Some parts were difficult to understand, in particular, the dialogue during when Momotarou gave the animals the food. I’m guessing that had something to do with them following Momotarou to the mountain, but I didn’t really understand why they followed him. However, the kanji had furigana next to it, so the kanji itself did not hinder reading. The pictures in the book helped with understanding of the storyline.

ふしぎの国のバード

この漫画の主人公は、本当に生きたイザベラ・バードという旅行家で、私は聞いたことごなかったので、面白かったです。漫画を通してこの勇気のある女性の話を人々に知らせるのはとてもいいことだと思います。それに、バードさんと通訳者の伊藤（いとう）さんの関係がかわいかったです。絵もあるから私は大体わかったと思いますが、単語が少し難しいので、特に日本語４年生たちにすすめたいです。

I was quite excited to find out that this manga is (probably loosely) based on the life of a real nineteenth century English explorer, Isabella Bird. It tells the story of her travels across Japan with her interpreter Itou. I think there is a strong theme of respecting cultural differences.

I understood most of the book thanks to the pictures, but the vocabulary is pretty tough and there were definitely some jokes that I didn’t understand. Even so, I think it would be a fun read for my fourth year classmates.

日本の歴史のお話 前編

 

この本は旧石器・縄文・弥生時代から南北朝・室町時代まで歴史の大切な事件について話します。30,000年以上前に、日本の土地に住んだ人間がいて、その時から日本の歴史ははじめたので、日本は長い歴史でと知られています。昔、たくさんの人は王様になりたかったから、多い戦争はおこるました。邪馬台国の時から、日本は昔の中国と接触がありました。それで、色々な日本の建物とか文字とか宗教など中国のと似ています。この本は分からない漢字があるので、ちょっと読みにくいですが、面白い本です。

This book introduces the early Japanese history and I did find the book a bit little hard to understand because there are lots of Kanji and names. I think the book would be easier to read if you already know some Japanese history. I like this book because this is the first Japanese history book I read.

タクシー

This book was a very sad book towards the end, and it was a surprise a bit. The story line was very good and easy to understand. These three characters are important for the story and its plot. The colors throughout the book were great, and the illustrations made it seem like dream-like story.

I recommend this book to anyone, the kanji are very easy to understand, about two words to look up but if you can continue to read you already understand where the story is going. A lot of the verbs we already know. Overall, just a nice story to read if you want a surprise.

木村家の毎日『お正月』

 

この本は楽しかったと思います。話しが面白かったと思います。私は早く読んで、わらいました。文はとてもみじかくて、かんたんですが、新しい単語がたくさんあります。

I would recommend this book. The kanji were very simple, and all of them had furigana, so there shouldn’t be any problems on that front. The information itself was easy enough to understand with the help of pictures. Give it a whirl!
